Got a Never-Ending Shopping List? Tame It with Cozi

30 Days of Cozi

by Sarah Pinnex

Appointments kept? Check.

We are well into our busy holiday season, with special church meetings, rehearsals for the Nutcracker Ballet, Hubby's Middle School Band concerts, and jaunting in and out of town for family get-togethers. The Cozi Calendar has been a huge help in the last couple of weeks, keeping our family on track. I get the email alerts on my Blackberry, and my husband checks the calendar at work to make sure he has everything straight for the evening. As I mentioned in my last video, this week will be our busiest week! Take a look at just some of the appointments we have this week.

Groceries bought and meals planned? Check.

Phew!  If we can survive this week, we can handle anything! Sometimes in the business of this season, the pantry really suffers, too, if you know what I mean. Who can fit grocery shopping into that schedule? Here’s how I do it:

First of all, I have to admit, I use a grocery list/couponing service to generate a list of the best store deals combined with the best coupons from the Sunday paper. I generate this list, then plan my menus from the list to maximize my savings.

However, I only do this once a week. Inevitably, I need something else to create a recipe from the list, and we always need milk cheese, juice, etc at various times during the week. Sometimes, my husband stops by the store on his way home from work, but he may not tell me. It's frustrating when Judd gets home from the store without something we needed, and I end up saying "Oh, you went to the store?  I really needed milk, I wish you'd called!"

Cozi solves that problem for us with the Shopping Lists function. Now, if Judd stops by the store on his way home, he checks the list first, or I send him a message (text or email) from the Home Screen of the Cozi Desktop Application. Here's what the screen looks like, and you can see the places for the lists, multiple stores, printable coupons, and recipes right there.

So I use the lists for anything not on the huge weekly shopping trip, adding items as they pop into my brain! We can add any store that we frequent, and organize the lists, too.

We can even call Cozi and have the list read to us, or go to the mobile site on our smart phone.  How's that for easy?!

Family Time? Check!

Now that we have our calendar organized and our grocery lists streamlined, we can get to the other "stuff," like homework, housework, and family time!

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he actually bought me lunch because I found it for him smile So let me rephrase that.
